My name is Chris Savarese and I own the Savarese Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, located at 482 Stuyvesant Ave in Lyndhurst NJ. I am a blackbelt under Royler Gracie/Dave Adiv. I have competed in and won such tournaments in my career as Grapplers Quest (3x), NAGA(2x), Tri-State ground Control Classic, Yamasaki Tournament, NYC Grappling Challenge (2x) and USGA Tournament (2x).

My journey into martial arts began in 1997 when a friend brought me to a David Adiv seminar. I continued to train under Dave, receiving my bluebelt in 1999 and my purplebelt in 2001. I then began to train at the Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC where I was a training partner of many of the top competitors and fighters in the world. After moving back to NJ, I rejoined David Adiv and received my brown belt in 2005. I received my blackbelt from Royler Gracie in 2008. I am so lucky to have trained under the likes of Renzo and Royler Gracie, David Adiv, John Danaher and Shawn Williams. These are some of the best BJJ instructors in the US and Brazil and I was lucky enough to have learned alot from each of them.

I am also the former owner of Tribe Fightwear, one of the top lines of MMA-related products and have sponsored such fighters as Dean Lister, Forrest Griffin, Brandon Vera, Mayhem Miller and Kurt Pellegrino among others.

From the patience and life lessons I have learned to the many fiends across the US and Brazil that I have made, I can honestly say that the best decision I ever made in my life was to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
