Jiu Jitsu University's method of organizing the belts and what each one should be working has given me focus and this new focus has accelerated my progress, i know this because My instructor has mentioned how well i am doing lately. Without this book i was training hard but not smart, NOW I am doing both and it feels great!

Please help me better understand and improve my Side Control Survival Posture (as taught by Saulo in "Jiu-Jitsu University").

Outside arm buried deep across chest/abdomen, near leg high, and near hand cupped to defend the crossface.

It's the last, I seem to be at an awkward angle with the near hand holding back his bicep -- although I can usually get some benefit here.

I further understand that when he gives up and takes his arm over (to the outside), I can use the more common hand near hip etc.

But along with the difficulty of just holding his crossface off, it seems that he could just return his hand to the near side for the crossface at any time.

Is this the way it is done? Must I just be extremely vigilant to that returning hand? How can I generate enough leverage to really protect against the crossface?

Any helpful thoughts or ideas no matter if they are incomplete will be greatly appreciated....

Thanks,
HerbM

Although, I am in Texas and not training at the University of Jiu-Jitsu, I am using Saulo Ribeiro's book Jiu-Jitsu University to improve my game.

This is truly an amazing and valuable book -- as are Saulo's videos.

Every chapter is adding something immediate to my jiu-jitsu and there is more there to learn as my skills develop.

Thanks to Saulo (and Xande both) for such a wonderful resource.

Is there any good place to ask questions when we face problems or challenges with the material?

Hello All,

By now I am sure I have contacted or annoyed all of you at least once with an email or comment or something else, but this time is different. I have put together a PROMO CODE that will be exclusive to users of Jiu Jitsu Share and their friends that are lucky enough to have this passed on to them, and yes, you can send this Promo Code to as many people as you want. By using this code you will receive $10 off a $35 order (or any order over $35). So our Canister of XL Wipes (Body or Surface Wipes) would cost you $25 instead of the normal retail price of $35. At the same time, if you buy 3 Sprays which would have a total over $35, you will receive $10 off that order as well.

As I said, this is a Promo Code set up specifically for the users of Jiu Jitsu Share, and of course any friend you want to share it with. I hope that everyone likes the products as much as the countless people already using the products all over the country. Please feel free to send me your feedback if you do use the products.

To get the discount go to: www.matguardusa.com

When you are asked for a promo code before checkout, enter: JJS (yes, JJS as in Jiu Jitsu Share)

This will take the $10 off your purchase price, and you will be set.

Anyone looking to buy in bulk, please contact me directly because we do have Volume Pricing for schools, retail, etc.

Thank you everyone, and I hope you enjoy.
